Doyle Review

In its nearly 100 years of operation, Doyle has become known as one of the top local security providers in the New England area. It is not only a well-rated, well-liked company, but it offers reliable services at a very affordable price. Doyle may have a few things that make it a less-than-ideal option–including its high equipment cost– but for homeowners looking for peace of mind and a company they can trust, it’s worth considering Doyle.

Doyle provides homeowners with the latest Honeywell equipment. Honeywell is one of the top brands in the country, though its equipment isn’t quite as reliable and high-tech as brands like GE or 2GIG. Honeywell excels at landline systems that are easy to use, very user-friendly for the tech-challenged, and which offer complete protection for homeowners. The equipment provided by Doyle includes environmental sensors, door and window contacts, motion sensors, and a keychain remote. Homeowners can opt for home automation devices and video surveillance, but these services increase the monthly premium. The cost of purchasing the equipment up front is also very high, though the equipment is reliable and durable. Plus, homeowners have remote access to their home security and automation system thanks to the Doyle Total Connect app, installed on smartphones, tablets and PCs.

Monitoring and Services

Doyle’s award-winning monitoring stations are fully certified, staffed by professionals who take a serious approach to protecting the homes they monitor. Doyle has an excellent response time in case of emergencies, ensuring that the right first responders (police, ambulance, fire, etc.) are on the scene in a hurry. The monitoring center has multiple backups, ensuring that no fire or power outage will leave homes unmonitored or unprotected. The company has an A+ rating with the BBB, and the majority of its online reviews are positive. Users have commented on the punctuality of the install technicians, the prompt response to emails and phone calls, and excellent alert services. However, the fact that Doyle only operates in New York and Pennsylvania severely limits the company’s reach.

Not only does Doyle offer all of the equipment homeowners could want, they also ensure the equipment with a lifetime warranty. As long as you are being monitored by Doyle, your equipment is covered under a warranty. While the equipment is built to last, the truth is that even top brands like Honeywell turn out faulty or less-than-reliable products. With the warranty offered by Doyle, it ensures that homeowners always have fully-functioning equipment.

The upfront costs of installing the equipment can rise as high as $800 for a wireless system, or $500 for a landline system. Homeowners purchase the equipment, yet they are still locked into a 3-year contract with Doyle. The premiums are around $30/month, though they rise for homeowners that opt for video surveillance and/or home automation.

The Good

Doyle offers all the equipment homeowners could need to protect their home–video cameras, home automation, sensors, alarms, etc.

The company has an excellent reputation for a quality service.

The Bad

Doyle only operates in Pennsylvania and New York, so their reach is limited.

And The Ugly

The upfront costs are very high, yet customers are locked into a 3-year contract.
