COX Review

As one of the leading companies offering integrated cable, internet and home security functionality, Cox can provide the sense of safety and comfort that you’ve been looking for without making too big a dent in your bank account. Starting at only $29.99/month for standalone home security, you could save even more with one of Cox’s bundled packages. You can use this impressive, inexpensive bundling to access your home wherever you go, using your smartphone or tablet device. This can put your home security in your hands, allowing you to feel like you’re home, even when you can’t be.

For all its smart technology, Cox doesn’t seem to give you much more than basics to protect your home. While you probably won’t need much more than a couple of door and window monitors to protect the average home from burglary, smoke and heat monitoring should probably be included as well. More annoying is that Cox doesn’t offer you a terminal for in-home accessibility. For people who already have a tablet device, this won’t be a problem; if you don’t have one, however, you’ll have to rent one for $3/month.

Monitoring and response

If equipment is Cox’s weak point, than service and monitoring would probably be considered its strong points. While some companies charge hundreds of dollars to install your home security system, Cox is currently running a promotion to install your security system for only $49, when you bundle with other services. These security professionals can also install your equipment in the most important parts of your home to hopefully give you the best protection.

Cox also takes care to monitor your home security system 24 hours a day, helping you feel that your home is safe and secure, even when you can’t physically be there. With options for fire, carbon monoxide and flood monitoring, you can protect your home against more than just burglary. You’ll be notified via text or email when any events take place at your home, which allows you to respond quickly and decide what to do with your home.

You’ll also have home access and home automation options, meaning that you can view and control your home no matter where you are. With options for thermostat and lighting control, you’ll have an amazing amount of control over your home’s comfort as well as your energy consumption. You can also opt for Cox surveillance cameras, which can help you keep an eye on your home no matter where you go.

For the Essential package, which focuses on burglary protection, you should expect to pay an impressive $29.99/month as a stand-alone service. The more impressive Preferred package will add home control and fire monitoring features to your home security for only $10 more a month. Of course, if you’re already a Cox customer, you could pay even less than this by bundling your services together to save money. Installation costs are also low, currently listed as $49 with a special promotion.
