Secure Your Home Against Daytime Deluders
Home security goes beyond technical devices. Your intuition can go a long way acting as a home alarm. For instance, many burglars try to trip the alarm systems by using blatant face-to-face trickery. You may answer the door-knock to face someone asking the following: May I use your bathroom? Do you have an egg I can borrow? These common questions from a familiar neighbor or the kid down the street are susceptible to a “yes” from you—but what about a stranger? You wouldn’t want to hurt someone’s feelings, but in cases where you are unsure about WHO is entering your home, a strong and friendly “I’m sorry, but the answer is No,” is an entirely acceptable response. Home security goes one step beyond politeness. A home security system supplements your intuitive strength.
Using false questions like the ones above are one of the tactics daytime and evening burglars use to gain quick and easy access to your home and evade a burglar alarm or home monitoring system. By knocking on your door and posing a question like, “May I use your phone?” the burglar intends to enter your home, or distract you and attack you once the door is open and they are inside. Funny enough, if you are familiar with the fictitious laws of vampire culture, popularized in science fiction literature and television series’ like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a vampire cannot gain access to your home unless they ask for permission, and you grant them entry. Similar to blood-thirsting vampire characters, menacing burglars use their questions to enter and discreetly or indiscreetly rob your home. They may actually use your facilities and in the meantime steal YOUR valuable by their slight of hand, or in the worst case scenario, use violence and threats on you once you’ve given them permission to walk through your dwelling place. In the case of an unforeseen attack, a home security monitor can still have your back with a camera pointed at your front door.
Fortunately, and unlike the fantasy of books and television, the law protects against such deception practices. Just because you allowed the intruder onto your personal property does not mean he or she has the right to invade your house. The FBI states that burglary is not defined by force—so no matter how easily the burglar thinks he has side-stepped your burglar alarm, his practice was deceitful and that person is still not legally allowed to act out on your property. Not to mention that your 24-hour home monitoring system had been actively scouting your premises for unusual activity. A burglar may think he’s successfully avoided tipping off the loud alarm and the police by going through your front door, but he hasn’t skirted the video or audio monitoring that you thankfully installed just yesterday.
There are many, many home security options available for you and your home, and these burglar alarms stop theft and protect you well. Burglars are sneaky, and try many tricks, but you can defeat them with your own smarts. Be on the look out, and for a proper layer of safety, install your home security system today.
